Why 200
It’s the smallest number where a Bangalore player can find someone at their level, in their part of town, this week. Below that the ladder is a spreadsheet. Above it, early on, it’s noise.
Why invite-only
This isn’t a velvet rope, it’s a density tool. Members invite the people they already play with, so the cohort can log real matches on day one instead of sitting around waiting for an opponent.
Why crews go first
Two people who actually play each other can log a verified match the day they join. A member with nobody to play has no product. If you’re on your own we seat you with players at your level nearby. Crews speed things up. They were never a requirement.
Why matches pay
Most sports apps ask you to grind for badges. Athly pays you in something you can hold. Every confirmed match mints ATH, and ATH claims real things: gear, court hours, coaching, numbered founding drops. You can’t buy ATH and you can’t farm it. The only input is the thing we want more of in Bangalore: honest, verified, slightly-too-competitive racquet sport.
What the number means
Founding Member #N is assigned at signup and never reassigned. Ratings move. Your number doesn’t. It’s the record that you were here when the ladder had nothing on it yet.
Then which city
Bangalore is city one. The list decides city two. Whichever fills fastest gets built next, on the same 200-first rule.
Then which sport
Pickleball and badminton are what the ladder runs on today. They are not the ceiling. More racquet sports are queued behind them.
